TONYSTEVEN

‘Always’ is the word of this day. Each and every day since he has started working at this place. He has no days-off because he is a PA, and it means no clear working schedule. He can be called at night, on Sunday, in the earliest morning. Always. His boss is always late, and it leads to a bunch of rescheduled meetings. Who is always the one to blame by all other departments? Matthew, for sure. And his apologizing smile isn’t helping since it happens all the time. Always.
He has found his zen way. It happened several months ago, but it helped a lot since then. Matthew Blake is a master of crisis management. Yes, exactly that. Because Austin Wright is a crisis indeed.
Today’s morning is bringing no exceptions while Matthew is absolutely alone in their office at the beginning of working day and two hours after. He managed to delay a first call for Mr. Wright (oh, isn’t he Mr. Wrong really?) by an hour explaining it with an unbelievable tale of huge traffic. And just two and a half hours after the official start of work here he is shining like a new quarter coin. Austin Wright is managing to get past his PA somehow in a second, and Matthew isn’t storming after him right away. Blake knows that his boss likes a bit of his alone time at first. Just enough time to prepare a cup of coffee and a plan for a day all wonderfully organized just on one piece of paper for Mr. Wright’s convenience. Wait, isn’t everything in this world exists only for Mr. Wright’s convenience? He definitely should start calling him Mr. Wrong, thinks Matthew to himself while balancing a cup of coffee, a cream jar and a sugar bowl on a tray. So much for a bloody MA he got from the best Uni apparently to become a coffee-boy. They say, ‘It is a perfect opportunity to start a good carrier in this field.’ They say, ‘It will be just for a couple of years.’ They say, ‘You will love it.’ To hell with them all. He hates every inch and second of it. It has been more than two years already. And his carrier at the point of perfect and unmovable stall. Great.
"Mr. Wright, your coffee, sir. You have a meeting in half an hour with the department of marketing. Then you have a business lunch with the head of the ad team. He said he had something magnificent for you. As always."
Matthew shoots a look at his boss just above the rim of his glasses saying that and watching Mr. Wright’s reaction. The head of the ad team is so gay it constantly spills around with all these glitz words like 'magnificent' or 'preposterous'.
" Then at 3 p.m. you have a brainstorming session with the finances. And then your favorite partner is calling you for an early cocktail party and a golf match. Strictly business discussion. Only close circle."
They both know that this will be the end of it. Mr. Wright won’t come back to the office charging for an unstoppable series of parties and pub crawls until he crushes with some totally unknown girl (or girls) at his house or some hotel room which is even more common. Hell yeah, Matthew Blake is a bloody prophet.

Good things always come along with bad ones, and if you don't know yet what you'll have to pay for the moment of happiness or pleasure, than you just can't see the whole picture. Austin knew this theory, but he always chased after pleasure with true hedonistic enthusiasm. Sometimes it brought him to very interesting situations.

That day he woke up next to another short-term girlfriend, drank a cup of instant coffee, which, by the way, he always hated for this sourish taste. Well, Austin hated any sort of coffee not made or bought by Matt. This guy really knew what to do to make his boss satisfied, and this was the main reason why Wright wasn't ready yet to promote Matt. Now he understood why it wasn't that easy to promote a person who knows his or her duties better than anyone.

Austin took his phone and got surprised of how late he was. Well, he used to get to work late, but this morning there was an important meeting at a lawyer's office somewhere in Queens. Austin went to the shower, got shaved, and put his favorite dark blue costume on. He left the girl sleeping in his bed, sat in a car and drove to Queens.

The lawyer patiently waited for Austin and received him immediately as he arrived. This was a bit strange, and it got even stranger, when Austin came in a big room, where he found his relatives, and even those whom he hadn't seen from childhood.

- If you wanted to arrange family meeting, you could just call, - he laughed mildly.

Austin's aunt hushed and told him to sit down in a chair. Turned out, is wasn't just a family meeting. Everybody was waiting for the announcement of Austin's grandfather's testament. He knew him pretty well, this man took charge of Austin after his parents' car crash, but they were never close.

- I called you at least twenty times to invite you to the funeral, your phone was off, - his aunt whispered.
- Yeah, I changed my number.

For more than a year Austin didn't speak to his family, because he actually didn't know what to say. He was kind of lone wolf, and te felt better just living the way he wanted.

Austin's grandfather was very rich, and it wasn't a big surprise that the whole family gathered. When the lawyer came in, everybody fell silent. They knew that Austin's grandfather was very rich, but either they knew that he had a very specific sense of humor. So he left some money for other relatives, but Austin had to get the biggest part of his inheritance, though he had to do one thing to get it. He had to get married and spend at least a year as a married man.

- I'm gonna be rich, - Austin was that happy that he couldn't keep a secret and told Matty everything right after his report. - I haven't even thought that the old man would decide to leave me anything. And all I need to get his millions is to get married. I guess it won't be a problem.
He thought of a girl he left in the bed. Maybe she could become his short-term wife. Though Austin had enough time to find a proper girl to fullfill his grandfather's will and get the money.

And now Wright had a very interesting anecdote for the "golf club", and they won't even believe that a person like Austin could get married. And then he turned pale.

- This is bad, - he sighed. - I had a bet, a serious one. If I get married to any woman until fourty, I'll have to give away this company. Don't laugh, Matt, they don't just forget bets like this. What am I gonna do now?..

Matthew’s brows went up after Wrights’ anouncement. “But you ARE rich”, he thought to himself, “since it happens that all lucky sons-of-a-bitches who owns their companies are rich indeed, at least to some extent.” But old news were replaced by some breaking news. Just to get married, and it won’t be a problem? For Austin Wright who doesn’t spend a night with the same girl twice, as far as Blake knows? He had to put a good effort in refraining himself from a chuckle. ‘Responsibility’ was the second word of Matthew Blake’s life, and, in his humble opinion, the life of Mr. Wrong has none of it. Like as in ‘literally none of it’. It was interesting about dead people’s last wills though how nearly always they left everything for totally unexpected ones sometimes just for fun of it. Mr. Wright’s grandfather was indeed a great joker to force his grandson into marriage with such a reward. Was he caring for the heirs of their own? Then he had to make his intentions more clear and put this exact condition into his will because Austin Wright with all his taints wasn’t the stupid one, and you could say that in terms of words, conditions and deals he was as the Devil himself.
“Congratulations, Mr. Wright, on your future rich life,” he muttered knowing it was not his place to point out the obvious complexity of finding a wife.
But it got even stranger by the second when his boss made his next revelation, and now Matt had to clutch his hand to his side not letting it touch his forehead. To bet his company on the fact that he won’t get married till forty? Who, for the sake of only common sense, makes bets like this? He wasn’t gonna laugh, and he was just staring long and speechless at his boss thinking how on earth could this golden boy start his own company up and push it to the current level of success while adopting such decisions.
“You know,” he said faster than he thought better of it, “the current laws of our free States of America let people marry not only women…”
He even made a little laugh which died almost instantly while he considered what he just said. You’d better think thouroughly on what you’re suggesting to this man since he can just easily find it the very same thing he would agree upon.
